My maternal grandmother’s grandmother was the last in our family to carry the Lincoln name. In her later years, she wrote out the family tree as she remembered it so we wouldn’t forget. That gift is now faded, the ink almost gone in a pink and yellow haze on acidic paper, but in the 1990s I ensured the information was saved by transcribing her handwritten information into a digital file. I’ve gone through vital records and censuses to add to and confirm the information, creating a picture of the Lincoln-Hackett family in Ohio and Iowa. (I wrote about her in-laws in a previous post).
