I wrote in GenTales on Medium last week about the awful March of 1896 for one Lincoln family in Iowa. Here, I want to elaborate on the lineage that this family belongs to.
George Washington “G.W.” Lincoln was born April 7, 1853, in Ohio, to Albert Aplin Lincoln (1818-1896) and Elizabeth (O’Neil) Lincoln (1820-1899). He married Matilda “Tillie” J. Chappeller (1861-1939) July 10, 1879, in Hocking Co., Ohio. He died June 16, 1916, in Hepler, Kansas, and is buried in Hepler Cemetery alongside his wife.
George and Tillie had:
1. Thomas Bert (sometimes given as Berton or Burton) born September 3, 1880, in Mills Co., Iowa. He married Bessie Kennedy (1879-1919) February 21, 1906, in Bourbon, Kansas. He died February 11, 1960, and is buried in Hepler Cemetery, Hepler, Kansas.
They had:
a. Elmer Harry Lincoln born 1909 in Kansas. He married Mildred Howard, in 1930 in Missouri. He died in 1998 in Alaska
b. Kenneth Richard Lincoln born in 1916 in Kansas. He married Louise Butler in 1945. He died in 1998 in Kansas.
2. Clarence Eugene born September 2, 1883. He died March 21, 1896, and is buried in Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific City, Iowa.
3. Bessie born September 16, 1886. She died March 24, 1896, and is buried in Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific City, Iowa.
4. Nettie Lincoln born January 28, 1894. She died March 28, 1896, and is buried in Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific City, Iowa.
5. Martha born February 21, 1897, in Plattville, Iowa. She married Louis A. Ellis (1890-1957) February 2, 1917, in Hepler, Kansas. She died May 21, 1990, and is buried in Hepler Cemetery, Hepler, Kansas. She had:
a. Ella Fern Ellis born about 1918 in Kansas.
b. Alva L. Ellis born August 6, 1924. He died October 4, 1925, and is buried in Hepler, Kansas.
c. Louis E. Ellis born in 1927. He died in 1929 and is buried in Hepler, Kansas.
